Hello everyone and welcome!
Welcome to my weblog on wordpress.com. I already have one on BlogSpot.com, where I discuss my experiences as a writer. This blog will exclusively provide a service to my fans. From time to time, I’ll post first chapters and excerpts. Please comment if you wish, though if you are abusive or just plain stupid you’ll find your post in the bit-bucket. Now, I’d like to introduce myself.
I am a returning writer who enjoys the act of creation. For years, I have yearned to create works, which would interest, inspire — and if necessary — haunt the reader. I have three small boys and live in the Pocono Mountains where every season is beautiful. My wife is an editor and illustrator of children’s books, and is artistically talented. I have recently finished a novel titled “Haley Cork and the Blue Door” – a haunting story of a girl who is rapidly stripped of her humanity by an ancient and powerful device.
I am working on a number of books, but fatigue brought about by chronic illness makes things very slow for me. I can write at most an hour a day if I am lucky, so if I don’t immediately respond to your emails, you’ll know why.
If you wish to contact me, do so through my publisher’s email address at Honesdale.Eagle@gmail.com
That’s all there is to it! I write because I have to, want to, and love to.

About my writing
Writing is a labor of love. I’m sure you’ve heard that before and will likely hear it again. I write because I love it. Imagination can take you places you never dreamed of, or maybe you did but couldn’t remember. Since I was a little boy, I always had a powerful imagination, much to my mother’s annoyance. I’m certain it still annoys her. I’m not perfect, but I strive to make my writing as close to perfect as possible.
I wish to tell a story which climbs the emotional alps and sends you on a wild sled ride down into the depths of tragedy. I want to show ultimate beauty struggling like a moth in the grip of desperate darkness. I want to reveal the human soul and touch it as well.
There is beauty in the world and it will overcome darkness. There is truth to defeat every lie. There is good which eclipses all evil. This I believe and this I wish to reveal in my writing. Travel with me on my journey through the worlds of my imagination.

Audrey Niffenegger
If you thought Audrey Niffenegger's first book The Time Traveler's Wife was good, you have to get her latest novel, Her Fearful Symmetry. It is a ghost story set in and around the historical Highgate Cemetery in London. While it is different in most ways from her earlier novel, it is fantastic and satisfying to read. You can find it on Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble. There's a good reason her first book is a number one best seller for the second week of October 2009 NY Times Paperback bestseller list.

“I write because I have to, want to, and love to…”
Ah, Matthew, I like the way you prioritized that. Writing is a necessity for some of us…I wish I could say I “love” it but over the past quarter century, the calling (not a vocation) has cost me arthritic fingers, a bowed back, chronic pain in my shoulders and neck and more mental and aesthetic agony than I care to mention.
But…I can’t stop so there’s no use complaining, is there?
Best of luck to you and welcome to WordPress…
Hi M Andrew Sprong
Thanks for inviting me to your page. I too write books for kids, and luckily adults seem to be getting hooked too! How lucky can I be?
I look forward to hearing more from you and will look for your book in the stores -and I hope you look for my book “Champion by Miles Cobbett” too.
There are two new reader reviews on Barnes & Noble/ Champion by Miles Cobbett page -if you want to check those out as well.
All the best, and please stay in-touch,
Miles
I don’t know what a bit-bucket is. Is that bad? O.o
It’s an old school programmer term which means that data is lost. It is the digital equivalent of the trash can.
